Spatie has been building web applications since 2004. In February 2019 we started Flare, to collect everything Laravel already knows about an error in a running application: the stack trace, the query, the request, the job.
Ignition came out of that work. We took the same idea, put it on a local error page and open sourced it. For years it was the error page Laravel shipped with. It only ever covered your own machine, though, and a queued job that throws at 3am renders an error page for nobody.
Flare has been running in production ever since, and grew into three parts we treat as equals: error tracking, performance monitoring and logging. The goal never changed.

Spatie built Ignition as part of Flare. It is now deprecated, but its focus on Laravel context still guides Flare today.

Spatie is a web agency in Antwerp, Belgium. We build web applications for clients, and we publish most of the tooling we write along the way. If you work with Laravel, you have almost certainly installed something of ours.
We build and maintain open source packages alongside our client work and products. That work teaches us what breaks in real applications. Flare grew out of that work.
